Short answer
The lecturer presses “Take Attendance”, then picks the course, class hours and a duration of 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes in “Session Configuration”. “Start Session” opens the live screen; the QR code is projected, students scan it in the mobile app and signatures fill the list. “End Attendance” closes the roll call, which then appears in the history.
Press “Take Attendance”
The “Take Attendance” button at the top of the side menu opens the “Session Configuration” dialog from any page. If you press “Start Attendance” on a course card in the weekly timetable, the course and hours come preselected.
Pick the course and hours
On the “Lesson Attendance” tab choose the roll call type: “One course, several hours”, “Several courses, several hours” or “One course, one hour”. Tick the course and every hour the roll call should cover; an unticked hour stays without a roll call.
Set duration and education type
The duration is 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes, with 10 preselected. The education type is marked as “Face-to-Face Education” or “Online Education”.
Check the QR mode
Under “Advanced Settings”, “QR Mode” comes set to “Dynamic” and the code refreshes every 10 seconds. The “Refresh Rate” can be set between 5 and 30 seconds; with “Static” the code stays the same for the whole session.
Press “Start Session”
The live roll call screen opens. Project the QR code or enlarge it with “Full screen”, and show the 8 character unique code to any student who cannot scan.
Watch the signatures
Signatures land in the “Participants” list as students scan. The “Devices” tab shows signatures from the same phone and the location tab shows signatures far from the class, for information. Adjust time with “-1 min” and “+1 min”, or stop the QR code with “Pause”.
Press “End Attendance”
If the count step is on, you type the number shown in the “Participants” header into “Enter Participant Count”; you do not count the room. The finished roll call appears in the roll call history.
Good to know
- A lecture roll call closes at the latest 60 minutes after opening, and also when the class hour plus the institution’s grace time ends.
- The institution decides when a roll call may be opened: only during the class hour, for a set time after it, or during the whole week of the class.
- A roll call opened for the wrong course is moved to the recycle bin from the roll call history.
Reveal the unique code on the live screen with “Show Unique Code”; the student types the 8 characters into the app. A student without a phone can be added by hand with a written reason, and the action is written to the correction ledger.
