SIS integration

Courses, students and timetables come from the student information system. Signatures taken in class become attendance records and are written to the SIS every night, so student affairs does not retype attendance into the SIS.

Short answer

DAS works with the student information system in both directions. Faculties, departments, programmes, the academic calendar, students, lecturers, courses and weekly timetables are imported from the SIS every day. Attendance taken in class is written back every night; unchanged rows are not resent and rows the SIS rejects are listed with their reason. Today DAS runs with the Proliz SIS.

Import

Course and student lists come from the SIS

Faculty, department and programme structure, the academic calendar, active students, lecturers, courses, weekly timetables and enrolments are imported from a daily data package. When a new package lands, the import can start without waiting for the night.

  • Imports start on schedule, by hand or when a new package arrives
  • Courses taught by several lecturers get one merged timetable and roster
  • Imports target the active term only; past terms are read-only

Safety gates

An empty or broken list cannot drop a class en masse

A student who leaves a course list is not deleted but marked as dropped; they can no longer sign, and their history stays. If a list arrives empty, or a single run would drop most of a class, nobody is dropped from that course.

  • Dropping more than 90 percent of a class of 20 or more is blocked
  • No more than 30 percent of active students are deactivated at once
  • No more than 10 percent of courses are archived at once

Write-back

Signatures are written to the SIS every night

Each record is one student in one class hour: present, absent, medical leave or excused. Every night the whole term is compared and only changed rows are sent, so a correction made in week 13 still reaches the week 1 record.

  • The send time is chosen in the panel, between 05:00 and 06:30
  • A class hour with no roll call is never sent as absent
  • DAS makes no attendance decisions; it writes class-hour records
